Leh, Ladakh
High-altitude town on the Indus, gateway to Nubra and Pangong.
Distance from Srinagar
~434 km via Zojila & Kargil (2 days overland)
Altitude
3,500m
Best time
June to September, when Zojila and the high passes are open.
Ideal stay
3–5 nights
Leh sits high on the Indus valley floor, and it's the base for everything else in Ladakh — Nubra Valley over Khardung La, Pangong Tso, and the monasteries at Thiksey and Hemis. We reach it overland from Srinagar, crossing the Zojila pass and stopping overnight in Kargil.
Because of the altitude, we build in a rest day in Leh before continuing further, and we ask every guest to take it seriously — it isn't about fitness, it's about giving your body time to adjust.
What to do here
